🌺 What to Pack for Thailand: A Dandelion Journals Guide for Women Travelers

“Travel light, laugh often, and leave room for memories.”

Thailand is a sensory wonder — golden temples, turquoise islands, fragrant street food, and warm smiles. Packing for it should feel just as joyful and easy. Whether you’re joining The Dandelion Journals on our small-group women’s adventure or exploring solo, here’s your gentle guide to what (and what not) to bring.

1. The Essentials

Think lightweight, breathable, and versatile.

  • Passport + printed copies (keep one separate)

  • Travel insurance + vaccination card

  • Credit card & some Thai baht (ATMs are easy to find)

  • Lightweight daypack or crossbody for markets and temples

  • Portable fan or mini towel — it gets humid!

  • Refillable water bottle (Thailand has refill stations)

  • eSIM like Airalo for seamless connectivity

2. Clothing for Every Moment

Thailand is hot, humid, and temple-rich — so balance comfort and modesty.

  • 2–3 breathable dresses or midi skirts

  • 2 pairs of linen or cotton pants

  • Light blouses or flowy tops (cover shoulders for temples)

  • 1–2 sleeveless tops (for evenings or beaches)

  • 1 light cardigan or wrap for temple visits

  • 1 swimsuit + cover-up (for islands or hotel pools)

  • 1 pair of shorts (for beach towns only)

  • Sleepwear & undergarments

  • Packable rain jacket or poncho (especially May–Oct)

Pro tip: Choose fabrics that dry quickly and resist wrinkles — you’ll thank yourself after a ferry ride or market day.

3. Footwear

Comfort comes first — Thailand’s charm is best explored on foot.

  • Comfort sandals like the Aetrex Women’s Jess (Dandelion-tested!)

  • Lightweight sneakers or slip-ons for city and travel days

  • Flip-flops or slides for the pool and short walks

Dandelion Tip: Most temples require shoes off — choose easy slip-ons!

4. Skincare & Health

Your skin will meet sun, humidity, and new adventures.

  • SPF 30+ sunscreen (reef-safe for island days)

  • Aloe gel or after-sun lotion

  • Bug repellent (especially for Chiang Mai or islands)

  • Mini first-aid kit: pain reliever, motion sickness, Imodium, Band-Aids

  • Personal meds in original packaging

  • Hand sanitizer & wet wipes

5. Tech & Travel Tools

  • Universal adapter

  • Portable charger / power bank

  • Phone stand or small tripod for photos

  • Lightweight journal + pen (we are The Dandelion Journals!)

  • Mini laundry detergent sheets for quick sink washes

6. The Little Joys

What makes a trip truly yours.

  • A small pouch of home comforts (tea bags, granola bars, or a photo)

  • A scarf that doubles as shawl, sarong, or blanket

  • A tiny gift or thank-you note for your local hosts — it’s always appreciated

✈️ Packing Philosophy

Travel isn’t about how much you bring — it’s about what you bring home inside. Pack light, travel kindly, and leave space for stories, laughter, and a few treasures from Chiang Mai’s night markets.
